Fritz's Mission

The idea behind Fritz is to reinterpret through stationery a centuries-old British tradition of ‘materializing emotions’. Until Victorian times, exchanging a hair pendant, gifting a lover’s eye brooch or picking a specific flower for a special person were all means to share memories and emotions in a highly stylized form. Whether a troubled love story or a tender family bond, the hope was to ‘make it last forever’ and portable reliquaries incorporating relics of loved ones were the literal translation of the desire to 'have him/her at all time'. By crystallizing wishes and memories in tangible forms, those objects ultimately functioned as ‘eternalizing devices’, amulets against the passing of time, helping to make eternal the most perishable things of all: human life and love.

The historical backdrop has changed dramatically since the last piece of hair jewellery was exchanged but the human longing for love everlasting has not. This is where Fritz steps in. We believe that nearly two centuries of rapid technological advances and even a Third Industrial Revolution (the Internet) hasn’t helped to make love an easier business and that we still need our amulets and rituals to assist us. We are here to help. We are here to serve the fancies and fantasies of all nostalgic hearts to add an extra layer of meaning to your private correspondence. Among a selection of five designs, each one illustrated with a Victorian object of courtship and remembrance, we invite you to pick up the card that most closely matches your feeling and post it. Fear Love Not. Speak Your Heart.

Fritz's cards are designed and printed in London using the highest quality materials and mainly traditional methods. For the printing we rely on the knowledge and expertise of Barnard and Westwood, royal warrant holder, to achieve the highest standard possible for a mechanized production in a balance between craft and industry.

About Us

Bridging the gap between past and present is what has brought us together and made Fritz come to life. I’m Lorenzo, a London-based visual designer with a knack for British heritage and together with design historian and communications advisor Margherita I gave shape to Fritz as a way to reconnect with our shared cultural legacy. My experience with London heritage companies paired with Margherita's knowledge of the luxury market has done the trick and we are proud to now be apart of the landscape of London’s independent companies.
